Synopsis

The afternoon passes in a quiet Andalusian town on the eve of its patron saint festivities. They are the festivities of the Saint who rescued his infant son from a deep well just with prayer. Another miracle is about to happen. A creature suddenly emerges from Carmela and Paco's well.

The creature is not welcome, causing rather disgust and revulsion. Not knowing what to do with it, Carmela and Paco call the priest and the village doctor to try  to understand the sudden appearance.  Greed and selfishness enter then at stake in a final duel with unfortunate consequences where the beautiful can  be monstrous and the horrible the everyday.

The eternal conflict between the pure and the impure is expressed then  as the ancestral struggle between the sacred and the cursed. Starting from that dichotomy, this story aims to reflect on human nature, entering the world of miracles that can suddenly turn into nightmares.

The short film "El Pozo" is an experimental and introspective work by the Italian-Venezuelan director John Petrizzelli. It is produced by three companies and portrays "excluded" characters, addressing controversial issues. The camera captures impressive landscapes of the province of Cádiz in a unique narrative form that makes the viewer reflect. The original music reinforces the atmosphere until the dramatic finale. The director seeks to promote inclusion and make visible the abilities of the protagonists, actors with disabilities from the group Telón Inclusión de Cádiz.
